Cardiac
Discounted Heart Scans
A painless, non-invasive test used for early detection of heart disease, the heart scan is similar to taking an X-ray of your body.
This scan is appropriate for adults with diabetes and for all men 35 or older and women 40 or older.
Available February 16 – March 16. Cost for screening is $99.

Diabetes
Diabetes Education: Individual and Group Sessions
If you are newly diagnosed with diabetes, our center for education can teach you the skills you will need to make better food choices, plan enjoyable exercise, monitor your blood glucose levels, understand the medications you are taking, and prevent complications. If you have had diabetes for some time, come to us to become a better diabetes self manager. We see patients individually Monday through Friday
and teach group classes on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Insulin instruction will be given with a written order from the physician stating the type and dosage of insulin.

Find out more about choices in childbirth. The homelike setting of the Alternative Birthing Center is designed to support women during water birth and other noninterventive births. This class is a requirement for using the Alternative Birthing Center. Free.

Learn breastfeeding techniques, answers to commonly asked questions, and information on the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby. Fee: $30.
A support person is encouraged to attend. There is no charge for the support person, but that person needs to register due to limited seating in the classroom.

Prepared Childbirth - Weekday Classes
This five-week series teached the stages of labor, slow breathing techniques, comfort measures, positions for coping with labor and developing confidence in your body's ability to give birth. Fee: $80 per five-week session. The dates listed below are the starting dates.

This two-day series teaches stages of labor, slow breathing techniques, comfort measures, positions for coping with labor, and developing confidence in your body's ability to give birth in a condensed format. The class includes a tour of West Suburban Medical Center's Family Birthplace and is focused on mothers and their support person(s). Please bring a pillow or two (one for each person) to class. The $80 fee can be paid with cash or check on the first day of class. Please make checks payable to West Suburban Medical Center. Free parking is available in the hospital parking lot or parking garage. The date listed below is the starting date.

Breathing techniques, meditation and self-hypnosis are among the strategies that will be explored. Space is limited to 10 participants. To register, call Dr. Iacono at 708-763-2120.
